NextComputing and Bluefish444 Combine for Real-time Mobile Broadcast Applications

Infobyte first company to deploy in European market for sporting events

Nashua, NH/S. Melbourne, Australia – April 11, 2007 – NextComputing, the leader in open-standards mobile computers, and Bluefish444, the leader in uncompressed video cards, announced that they have combined technologies to deliver a break-through mobile broadcast production platform.

The mobile broadcast production system is powered by the modular, briefcase-sized, NextDimension Pro HD workstation that features up to (2) Next-Generation Dual-core AMD Opteron™ processors, 24GB RAM, and up to (8) Seagate Technologies enterprise drives that sustain read/write speeds over 170MB/s with built-in RAID. The open-standards PCIe and PCI-X architecture of the system allows end-users to incorporate Bluefish444's SD|Greed video card, in addition to professional PCIe graphics cards by NVIDIA and PNY Technologies to power the integrated 17" HD-display (1920 x 1200).

Bluefish444's SD|Greed is the complete uncompressed 10/12 bit SD SDI/Analog I/O video card with built in A/D and D/A converter. The all-in-one solution is further distinguished by providing the industry's largest number of SD/SDI, I/O connections, and options, eliminating the need for any type of external break out box.

All Bluefish444 cards include the acclaimed Symmetry package, which provides a seamless acquisition, review and playout station for all Windows production environments. With completely frame-accurate deck control, Symmetry frees up the creative process to design and create rather than waste countless hours managing complex NLE systems just to get media in and out of a workstation.

"The competitive nature of the broadcast market has always required practical solutions to streamline production workflows," says Bob Labadini, NextComputing President and CTO. "It is becoming increasingly important to deliver superior content in shorter cycles to maintain that edge. The best way to accomplish this goal is to consolidate technical resources and deploy them to the field quickly and effectively. "

Jonathan Fall, Bluefish444 OEM Manager, comments, "NextComputing's modular workstation and the Bluefish444 capture and playback video card are a compelling combination for the broadcast community. This technology partnership provides a real benefit to both small and large broadcasters in terms of quickly and easily getting content on-air in a mobile environment.

Infobyte Deploys in European Market

Infobyte, an Italian-based company specializing in new forms of technological communication and real-time virtual reality, has successfully deployed the solution to international broadcasters in the European market.

Infobyte operators are now able to stream 3D overlays in real-time, with redundancy, at professional sporting events across the continent. The environmentally-friendly system, designed to maximize size, weight, and power efficiency, provides tremendous computational throughput for a variety of mobile and embedded applications, like satellite vans or production trucks, where space is at a premium.

"For over 15 years, Infobyte has designed highly innovative solutions to address a wide range of digital broadcasting challenges," notes Augusto Ferrari, Infobyte. "By utilizing the combined technologies of NextComputing and Bluefish444 we were able to integrate our software and deliver a custom solution without having to sink significant development costs into R&D that the project would have otherwise required."

The NextDimension mobile workstation incorporating Bluefish444's SD|Greed capture card is now available through select resellers worldwide, and will be demonstrated in the Bluefish444 booth (SL-9405) at NAB 2007.
